Franchising Specialist

This role presents a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the legal framework of a rapidly growing business. As an in-house franchise lawyer, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the company's strategic approach to franchising, driving growth and expansion through expert legal guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Franchise Compliance: Oversight of all franchise-related documentation, including agreements, disclosure documents, and compliance registers, ensuring seamless execution of business objectives.
  • Commercial Contracting: Development, negotiation, and review of various contracts such as supplier agreements, sponsorship deals, and property leases, balancing commercial interests with legal risk.
  • Governance & Risk: Provision of expert advice on risk management, privacy matters, and legislative developments, participating in internal committees as necessary.
  • Board Reporting: Preparation of concise and accurate legal updates for board consideration, fostering informed decision-making.
  • External Counsel Engagement: Management of external advisor relationships and instructions, ensuring optimal collaboration.
  • Leadership: Guidance to a capable Legal Administrator, promoting professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' post-admission experience, preferably in a franchising-heavy environment, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Strong expertise in franchise law, including preparation of disclosure documents and management of franchisee relationships.
  • Exemplary commercial contracting experience, demonstrating ability to balance legal risk against business needs.
  • A high degree of independence, confidence, and the ability to interface effectively with executives and cross-functional teams.
  • A collaborative and practical approach, with the capacity to work at pace in a large, evolving business environment.
