About the role
Mater Pathology is currently seeking expressions of interest for future opportunities in the role of Phlebotomist.
The primary duties of these roles will be to service Mater Hospitals and Community Collection Centres across a 24/7 rotating roster and our Collection Centre hours. These roles will be a mix of casual, part-time, and full-time positions.
As a Mater Pathology Phlebotomist, you will provide high-quality patient care and service through phlebotomy, specimen collection, specimen management, and administrative duties. This includes ensuring the pre-analytical stage delivers quality samples for testing, leading to timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
With over 100 years of experience, Mater Pathology offers quality services to our sites and provides support to our Phlebotomists through further education and training.
Mater Pathology is at the forefront of innovation, providing a broad spectrum of unique pathology expertise through its highly skilled team of pathologists and scientific, technical, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting blood samples from adults, children, and infants, including blood, urine, swabs, and skin samples.
- Providing advice to clients on special requirements prior to test procedures.
- Registering patients using the pre-analytical management system.
- Maintaining equipment, consumables, and work areas in a clean, safe, and well-resourced state.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Delivering high-quality customer interactions by ensuring a professional appearance and polite manner.
- Promoting the philosophy of healthcare and values of Mater.
- Providing excellent patient care and a strong commitment to customer service.
- Maintaining quality of service as per ISO 17025 accreditation and AS/NZS ISO/9001 2000 standards.
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Phlebotomy or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid Blue Card.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to show empathy and understanding to patients.
- Good understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team environment.
