Career Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced lactation consultant to join our team at the Launceston General Hospital. As a clinical nurse consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality lactation care and education to staff, patients, and families.

Job Description

As a clinical nurse consultant - lactation consultant, you will be part of the Women's and Children's Services team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert lactation consultancy and care to patients and families
  • Leading innovation and research to improve clinical outcomes
  • Developing and implementing clinical guidelines and applying research to practice
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating lactation education sessions for patients and staff

You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve high-quality patient outcomes and contribute to a positive working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in delivering high-quality lactation consultancy and care
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Accreditation with the International Board of Lactation Consultants
  • Current Working with Children Registration

A postgraduate qualification in lactation or a related field is desirable but not essential.

Benefits

This is a fixed-term, part-time position working 28 hours per fortnight. You will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including access to professional development opportunities and a range of leave entitlements.

In addition, you will be eligible for travel and relocation assistance support up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
