Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides clinical specialist care, consultancy, and education to staff, patients and families within the Launceston General Hospital requiring lactation support, and leading innovation and research to improve clinical outcomes.

The Team: Women\'s and Children\'s Services are focused on providing quality, evidence-based patient and family care with a trauma informed lens and growing the health leaders of tomorrow. Numerous professional development opportunities, including regular, quality Clinical Supervision are offered.

The Role: Providing clinical specialist care, consultancy, and education to staff, patients and families within the Launceston General Hospital requiring lactation support, and leading innovation and research to improve clinical outcomes.

You will need
  • Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in delivering a high level of lactation consultancy and care, including the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and applying research to practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate lactation education sessions for patients and staff.
  • Sound knowledge of research methodology and continuous quality improvement and their application within the clinical setting.

Essential Criteria
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Accreditation with the International Board of Lactation Consultants
  • Current Working with Children Registration
Desirable Criteria
  • Holds or working towards relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications
Details of appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 28 hours per fortnight, 27 October 2025 until 26 October 2026.

Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary and benefits

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary packaging: You\'ll have access to salary packaging a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Award, 2023.

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
