We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Program Officer to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the Department of Environment and Science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage grant contracts with First Nations organisations, ensuring accountability and maintaining administrative systems.
  • Provide support and coordination to the program team, assisting with the implementation of the program's strategic plan and associated projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with First Nations people, officers in QPWS&P, and other government departments to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Participate as a proactive team member, contributing to Unit and Branch outcomes, and supervise and mentor staff as required to build capability and resilience within the Unit.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of policy, legislation, and frameworks relating to the rights and aspirations of First Nations people.
  • Contract management skills with a strong focus on accountability, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • High-level analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review and synthesise information from multiple sources, draw accurate conclusions, and provide authoritative advice to decision-makers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly First Nations people.
