Job Description

The role of Maternity and Newborn Services Coordinator is crucial to the delivery of maternity and newborn services in our region. As an effective clinical lead, you will be responsible for coordinating staff and ensuring the highest standard of patient care.

To achieve this, you will manage and maintain effective patient care administrative and information systems, including data collection and reporting. You will also promote safety and quality systems that benefit staff, clients, and the organisation.

You will participate in the review of policy, procedure, and work practices directly related to maternity and newborn programs, working closely with the Director of Clinical Operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leveraging technology to capture client feedback and satisfaction surveys.
  • Collaborating with the Quality and Safety Team and the Director of Clinical Operations (Maternity portfolio holder) to establish, embed, monitor, and measure systems including governance frameworks, environmental audits, and clinical case auditing.
  • Identifying innovative methods of care delivery based on efficiency and effectiveness, and proposing these ideas to the healthcare team as appropriate.
  • Coordinating postnatal domiciliary midwifery care to women and their families in accordance with domiciliary care contracts.
  • Demonstrating professionally appropriate communication styles and impartiality.
  • Establishing a communication strategy with the midwife group and regularly reviewing and updating it.
  • Fostering collaboration with stakeholders internally and externally to promote collaborative care provision.
  • Promoting a safe workplace through education and training, team reviews of incidents, orientation of new midwives, and annual peer review conversations.

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration – Registered Midwife. Additional qualifications and/or experience in care coordination are desirable.
