Job Description:

As a Waste Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting environmentally responsible practices through educational outreach and operational management.

  • Educate tenants on correct bin use to minimize contamination and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Deliver engaging waste education sessions to raise awareness and promote sustainability.
  • Drive best-practice waste management by implementing efficient systems and procedures.
  • Partner with centre management to boost waste awareness and optimize waste reduction strategies.
  • Lead daily waste operations at loading docks to ensure timely collection and sorting of waste.
  • Inspect bins and storage areas for compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure proper sorting of waste, recycling, and organics to maximize recycling rates and minimize landfill diversion opportunities.
  • Maximize recycling and minimize contamination by optimizing waste collection routes and schedules.
  • Resolve waste issues and emergencies promptly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate waste services with contractors to ensure seamless execution of waste management plans.
  • Contribute to meetings on waste education and awareness to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide timely reports to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching, education, waste management, recycling, or environmental services is highly desirable.
  • A clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, confident working with tenants and staff.
  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and solve basic problems.
  • Familiar with or open to learning about waste and recycling principles and practices.
  • Aware of general workplace safety protocols and procedures.
  • A background or studies in environmental science, sustainability, or education is a plus.
