Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Energy Market Operations Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for enabling several Energy market operations in a decentralized power exchange through enabling purchases like bids to buy; sales, through offers to sell Electricity/Gas. Bids and offers use supply & demand principles to set the price.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute towards the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of complex and large-scale technology solutions in client-facing roles.
  • Work independently with minimal assistance to achieve goals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge on Energy (Electricity/Gas) Markets, Ancillary Services and best-practices & standards.
  • Collaborate with the analytics team to improve forecasting and optimization models, back cast different strategies and improve reporting.
  • Work closely with asset managers and O&M providers to ensure proper processes are in place for outage reporting and contract obligations are being met.
  • Negotiate and execute agreements with scheduling coordinators.
  • Develop and maintain excellent analytical and communication skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree / Master's degree in electrical/Electronics/Power System Engineering.
  • 8-12 years of experience in Electricity Market Operations or energy-related commodity trading.
  • Hands-on experience in Market Systems covering applications for Wholesale and retail markets for Electricity & Gas.
  • Detailed understanding of power market fundamentals, market rules, and the different products that drive battery storage revenues.
  • Acquires the skill and knowledge of customer's procedures and business functions related to the Market program and other operations.
  • P&L responsibility for the assets including reporting results to upper management and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Working closely with scheduling coordinators and third-party energy managers, oversee the day-ahead and real-time trading strategy for the assets.
  • Execute transactions for Capacity, Energy, RECs, and Ancillary service products to hedge revenues where appropriate.
  • Participate in customer's stakeholder process to track potential changes to market rules.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and desire to work in a consulting environment that requires regular travel.
  • At least 3 years of experience in RE/DER Management System with hands-on experience.
  • Experience in migrating data and models from older/legacy systems to new systems.
  • Should have excellent soft-skills and leadership skills to lead assessment workshops, and work with Enterprise architects to design roadmaps for next 5 years.
  • Experience of at least 2 or 3 full-cycle implementations for a utility (Power) with hands-on Functional and deployment experience.
  • Working experience in Australian utilities will be more preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Test Automation Tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • Should be able to guide, mentor and review the end-to-end solution and perform issue resolutions during support /Post-Go Live phase.
  • The candidate must be able to lead the team and is also expected to help the project team with any functional issues that may arise during the project.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
