Job Description

Job Title: Horticultural Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Horticultural Specialist to join our team at Ardent Leisure Group. As a Horticultural Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of our plantations, which are dedicated to sustaining our growing koala and tree kangaroo populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut and prepare suitable foliage for our koala and tree kangaroo populations
  • Plant, fertilize, and water our leaf plantations to ensure optimal growth and health
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including slashing and pruning, to maintain the health and appearance of our plantations
  • Assist with feeding our koala population and perform general animal husbandry duties
  • Work collaboratively with our Life Sciences team to achieve our conservation goals

Requirements:

  • High level of energy and physical fitness to perform physically demanding work
  • Ability to work outdoors in a bushland environment and in all weather conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Current Apply First Aid qualification
  • Current QLD Manual Drivers Licence and ability in 4-wheel drive operation

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar environment, such as farming, nursery, grounds, or basic plantation maintenance
  • Tertiary qualifications in any of the sciences, particularly horticulture
