Job Information
  • The geotechnical engineer will be responsible for dealing with the mechanics of soil and rock, as well as its applications to engineering elements.
  • Main tasks include analysis, design, and construction of man-made structures or systems that are made of or are supported by soil or rock.
  • Geotechnical engineers identify, design, and implement practical solutions to engineering problems concerning soil, rock, and groundwater.
  • They apply scientific and engineering techniques to predict and manage the behavior of the ground where it interacts with or responds to human activity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and conduct survey work to analyze the likely behavior of soil and rock when placed under pressure by proposed structures.
  • Determine the safe loading for the soil and designs above and below ground foundations.
  • Obtain soil and rock samples at different depths across sites and test them to determine strength, compressibility, and other factors that affect the behavior of soil and rock.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and geotechnical design.
Requirements
  • A minimum of one year experience is required.
  • Key skills include problem-solving, communication, project management, teamwork, analytical abilities, soil mechanics, adaptability, analysis, data collection, research, slope stability, environmental and geographical factors, and geotechnical analysis.
