Job Title: Diversity and Inclusion Advocate

Job Description:

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking a skilled professional to fill an **Inclusion and Diversity Officer (Affirmative Measures - First Nations)** role in the Inclusion and Diversity Team.

This vacancy is being advertised concurrently under a general and an affirmative measure - First Nations recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to foster and promote an inclusive culture and increase diversity across the organization.
  2. Monitor and report on outcomes of inclusion and diversity initiatives, as identified in the ABS Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and/or action plans.
  3. Build effective relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) and partner to deliver agreed outcomes.
  4. Provide advice and support to managers and employees to raise awareness and understanding of inclusion and diversity matters.
  5. Support and assist diversity champions and employee networks to create and promote an inclusive culture that values and supports diversity.
Selection Criteria:
  1. Ability to engage effectively and sensitively with diverse groups, e.g. people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  2. Well-developed written communication skills and ability to interpret and produce information in an inclusive, clear and concise manner for a range of audiences.
  3. Experience in developing and fostering relationships and collaborating, engaging, influencing and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Ability to deliver under pressure in a dynamic environment, meet tight timeframes, manage competing priorities and respond quickly and flexibly to change.
  5. Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to problem solve and identify solutions.
