Waste Management Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Waste Management Specialist to operate and maintain plant equipment for routine waste management tasks, under limited supervision, and in compliance with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain plant equipment for routine waste management tasks, adhering to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Screen and sort incoming waste accurately to minimize quantities directed to the landfill and ensure that all materials are deposited in site-specific locations.
  • Take appropriate remedial action if necessary, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and licensing conditions for the landfill.
  • Provide administrative support, including maintaining accurate records of incoming waste and outgoing recyclable material.
  • Report any infringements related to waste management policies to senior staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment for waste management tasks.
  • A strong focus on safety and the ability to use initiative.
  • Flexibility in approach and ability to support team members.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Nationally accredited certificate of competency for Front End Loader
  • Nationally accredited certificate of competency for Excavator
  • SafeWork High Risk Licence for Forklift
  • Current Class HR Driver Licence
