About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Worker to join our team in a leading Victorian-based drug and alcohol treatment organisation. As a Peer Worker, you will play a vital role by sharing your lived experience of treatment and recovery from substance use with residents of our Therapeutic Community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing support and encouragement to residents in Rehabilitation Services, including those on the waitlist, preadmission group, Welcome House program, and Aftercare.
- Assisting with delivery of program material from a peer perspective with successful treatment experience.
- Maintaining clear boundaries and adhering to the Peer Support Model.
- Delivering strategies and motivation to individuals in treatment.
- Role modelling prosocial behaviour and the values of the Therapeutic Community.
- Contributing to and promoting Windana's recovery community and the broader local recovery community through active participation and promotion of events.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- SHARC Peer Worker Training.
- Knowledge of peer support theory and practice.
- Demonstrated group facilitation skills.
- A non-judgmental and open approach to different recovery methods.
- An understanding of various AOD treatment program models and approaches.
- High-level interpersonal and communications skills, including active listening and clear speaking.
- A commitment to positive change in the use of alcohol and other drugs of dependence.
