The role of the Diversity Teacher is pivotal in fostering an inclusive educational environment within our community.

About the Institution

Established in 2017, our institution has grown to accommodate a diverse student body, currently serving over 1750 learners from Kindergarten through Year 12. We are committed to creating a nurturing and innovative learning atmosphere that promotes curiosity and creativity among students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences for all students.
  • Collaborate with the Diversity Leader to tailor specialized teaching approaches for students with unique needs.
  • Work alongside educators to design and implement inclusive school programs.
  • Support classroom teachers in identifying and prioritizing students who may require additional assistance.
  • Co-develop individualized student profiles and learning plans for those in need of extra support.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students requiring additional attention.
  • Demonstrate inclusive teaching strategies to enhance the skills of classroom educators.
  • Engage collaboratively within the learning environment to empower students to thrive in mainstream classroom settings.
  • Contribute to professional development initiatives for staff in the area of diversity and inclusion.
  • Undertake specific tasks as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualifications in inclusive education or a related field.
  • Significant experience in classroom teaching.
  • Expertise in literacy and numeracy support programs.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new methodologies.

Compliance Requirements

  • Adherence to child protection legislation, including a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Eligibility to teach in accordance with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
  • A minimum of a four-year tertiary qualification or 75% completion of such a degree.
  • A Statement of Service.
