Senior Advisor Engineering - Aids to Navigation

A highly skilled Senior Advisor, Engineering Aids to Navigation (AtoN), is required to play a pivotal role in delivering expert technical support and oversight across the construction, maintenance, and repair of AtoN structures and systems.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the AtoN engineering team, ensuring high-quality outputs, staff development, and welfare. Additionally, you will develop and implement strategic engineering policies, standards, and documentation.

Key responsibilities include overseeing technical assessments, reports, and specifications related to AtoN infrastructure, as well as managing project planning, budgeting, and risk-based prioritisation for AtoN works.

As a technical authority, you will provide expert engineering advice to support project delivery and oversee lifecycle assessment, analysing asset condition and performance data to inform maintenance strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in engineering or a related technical field, with at least 5 years' experience leading technical functions. Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering governance, design processes, and technical operations.
  • In-depth understanding of structural assets within marine or coastal environments; experience with AtoN systems is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the assessment, design, and remediation of maritime infrastructure and heritage buildings.
  • Solid experience in strategic asset management, including lifecycle planning, risk management, and work program prioritisation.
