ATSICHS Brisbane is proud to introduce our newest child protection program, Nyanya Munjindei Delegated Authority. Established in 2024, our team works with families to make decisions about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who are currently involved or at risk of involvement with Child Safety.

Our Mission

We strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for our children and families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care and protection. Our team is committed to upholding the rights and dignity of our clients, while promoting cultural understanding and self-determination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, elders, community, and stakeholders to increase family safety, support, and reunification options.
  • Practice Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-Led Decision-Making (ATSIFLDM) that honours the family's voice, right to self-determination, and safe connection to family, community, and culture.
  • Case management and care coordination, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Work in partnership with Child Safety, promoting a collaborative approach to child protection.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation, including the Child Protection Act 1999, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles, and the Human Rights Act 2019.
  • Assessments around children and family needs, risk, and safety, informing decision-making and care planning.
  • Administrative and compliance tasks related to the role, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Requirements
  • Ability to connect and build rapport with vulnerable children and their families.
  • Certificate IV/Diploma/Bachelor in Community Services or related field.
  • Case management experience of 3+ years, with a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Qld Child Protection Act 1999 or ability to obtain.
  • Natural advocacy skills, promoting cultural understanding, human rights, and self-determination.
  • A valid Blue Card, Driver's License, and Police Check.
  • Value a deadly team culture, with a commitment to collaboration and mutual respect.
