Our Client


We are representing an ambitious brokerage in their search for a seasoned insurance broking professional to serve as their Commercial Team Leader. With strengths in SME, Mid-Market, and Specialty Segments, this brokerage has experienced significant growth over the past few years. The successful candidate will join the flagship branch of this business with a dynamic and collaborative culture.



The Role

This is a key position within the Victorian Branch and the business nationally. You will work closely with the leadership team to drive the success of the Victorian branch's Commercial broking team and collaborate with key stakeholders interstate to deliver best-in-class insurance outcomes and risk transfer solutions across the business.




  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver exceptional client outcomes, focusing on retention, revenue generation through new business, and delivering the full range of capabilities.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with insurance carrier partners in key markets and negotiate suitable risk transfer and placement solutions based on individual client risk profiles.
  • Monitor and review your portfolio to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support clients and colleagues in achieving great client outcomes across general lines and professional services.
  • Manage and support the team across all general lines of insurance.
  • Participate in business development opportunities, including policy wording health-checks, technical and claims commentary in tenders, and involvement in new business presentations.
  • Provide high-level support to team members, ensuring timely and efficient responses to requests.
  • Process large commercial/corporate new business, renewals, and policy document preparation and maintenance, supporting internal infrastructure that supports frameworks.
  • Ensure excellent client service and high-quality input to insurers, including quoting, renewals, processing endorsements/amendments, preparing correspondence, updating reports, premium calculations, and allocations.
  • Work with and evolve our 'Strategic Projects,' supporting value-add through supply chain evaluation and constant monitoring of client added-value that links proactively to enhancing client experience, such as 3rd party support and risk mitigation partners.


Key Requirements



  • A strong technical understanding of various general lines classes and ideally financial lines insurance products and risk solutions, with a mature understanding of general lines.
  • Ideal experience includes several years (10+) of leadership experience, confident in supporting a culture of accountability, ownership, and transparency.
  • A keen entrepreneurial spirit and flair for business development with excellent cross-selling abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated to take ownership and accountability for developing and executing relationships at a senior level.
  • Excellent market management relationships in the market, including both insurers, underwriting agencies, and ideally Lloyds and London markets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • At least 10 years of experience in senior-level broking roles, preferably in commercial and corporate clients, with significant experience in multi-line renewals, large and complex placements, and senior-level industry contacts.
  • A team player who works well with others, supporting a national focus on general lines but also comfortable helping nurture and support others in support of a focused approach to professional services.
  • A Post Graduate/Diploma or Degree in Business/Finance/Commerce, plus qualifications in accordance with the Financial Services Reform Act (minimum Tier 1 Broking Compliance), would be expected; individuals from an underwriting background are welcome to apply.


Salary and Benefits

We offer a highly competitive salary package, estimated to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.
