Geology Support Role

The Geology Support Technician provides in-field and site support to geologists by ensuring the safe transportation and handling of core samples.

  • Assist in collecting core samples from field operations, guaranteeing adherence to strict safety protocols.
  • Processing and preparation of core for geologists at the core shed involves washing and labeling, orienting core in trays correctly, photographing core, and cutting core according to specifications.
  • Coordinate density testing on core and rock samples as required to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data entry and integrity of the database is maintained through meticulous attention to detail.
  • Core storage must be executed with utmost care, utilizing both mechanical and manual methods to prevent damage or contamination.
  • Core sheds and surrounding areas should remain organized and tidy at all times to maintain an efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support geologists with the collection, processing, and storage of core samples.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to company policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals and objectives.
About You

Candidates for this role should possess:

  • Experience in collecting, handling, and storing core and samples, preferably.
  • Proficiency in IT skills and accurate data entry.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • A valid manual driver's license.
  • Forklift license advantageous but not essential.
