Job Description

Eden Ritchie Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Project Officer to join a key project within a large and complex Queensland Government department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Assess, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, including enhancement of planning tools, templates, business processes, systems, and capability within the department, in alignment with best practice and recommendations to improve delivery of services.
  • Project Planning: Support in coordinating and collating inputs and resources into a digital 'project planning handbook' to assist Infrastructure Services Division in planning programs and projects under the department's Infrastructure investment Portfolio.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance frameworks to enhance project planning.
  • Reporting and Insights: Support the Project Director, Project Planning in reporting clear updates and insights on business improvement initiatives.
  • Process Documentation: Prepare reports, process documentation, and presentations to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data to assess the effectiveness of current processes and support the proposal of evidence-based solutions for improvement.
  • Process Enhancement: Support the assessment of opportunities for enhancement of planning tools such as allocative models, templates, work processes, and capability, and support updates where required.
  • Framework Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of frameworks, systems, and processes to ensure effective implementation of this major government priority, ensuring consistency, continuity, and quality of departmental strategic and operational planning, project and service design, business review, program and project management, reporting, performance, and risk management.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of process changes and evaluate their impact.
  • Change Management: Support the development of a revised project design brief template, uplift processes and procedures to include checkpoints ensuring consultations are undertaken, establish guidelines to clearly identify roles and responsibilities in the development of project design briefs, develop process maps that identify roles and responsibilities for consultation, and develop standard operating procedures and guidance material to support the development of project design briefs.
  • Lessons Learned: Document and collate lessons learned and feedback to the Project Director, Project Planning and Director, Service Strategy.
  • Culture of Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
Requirements
  • Qualifications or industry experience in infrastructure planning, strategic policy, or similar will be highly regarded.
  • Confidence in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams, and experience with the Department of Education Content Manager and Microsoft Power Bi would also be highly regarded.
