Toolmaker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to create, maintain and repair patterns using various materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain and repair patterns using timber, plastic, acrylic sheets, fiberglass, rubber, aluminium, plywood, MDF, polyester fillers and metals.
  • Work with basic woodworking tools and machinery.
  • Read drawings and specifications to determine materials required and prepare layouts.
  • Cut, shape and assemble materials.
  • Develop skills in sanding and shaping fillers.
  • Maintain a keen eye for panel shape lines.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the workshop.
  • Adhere to OH&S guidelines and anti-discrimination policies.
  • Report any safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering background in Patternmaking, Cabinetmaking, Boat building, Mould making, Fibreglass laminating, Carpentry or Moulding.
  • Previous experience in woodworking.
  • Able to use basic tools and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
