Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Commercial Goods Planner to join our team in a strategic merchandise management role. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our General Merchandise category.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing multi-million dollar portfolios, ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time while understanding the Kmart customer's needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the merchandise financial plan to achieve sales, profit, stockturn, and ROI budgets
- Delivering key profit objectives through innovation, customer orientation, inventory management, and analysis
- Establishing strategies to satisfy the target customer in line with merchandise strategy
- Trading your business to maximise every opportunity and minimise risks
- Forecasting stock requirements to maximise revenue, margin, and stock turn performance
You will work collaboratively with buyers and the broader team to drive commercial outcomes and contribute to the success of Kmart's General Merchandise category.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Vast experience in managing multi-million dollar portfolios with the ability to adapt and pivot in a fast-paced environment
- Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills, with high levels of attention to detail
- Ability to observe, interpret, and act upon trends in customer behaviour
- Highly inquisitive, self-driven with strong organisational skills
- Ability to develop accurate financial plans, assortment plans relevant to the customer, and deliver financial outcomes
