Within Australia, our Consulting and Strategic Advisory (CSA) division specializes in a wide array of services related to railway operations and maintenance, rail alignment, signalling and control systems, telecommunications, and rail vehicles. Our goal is to enhance passenger experiences while optimizing operational efficiency through our extensive expertise in engineering excellence. We are dedicated to empowering our clients to revolutionize rail travel.
Position Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Principal Consultant to bolster our expanding workload within the Transport Advisory division, with opportunities available in major cities across Australia.
This critical role involves collaboration with clients across the rail and transport sectors, including government agencies, private operators, and engineering partners. Our diverse project portfolio encompasses rail network strategy formulation, public transport project business case assistance, performance modeling, and operational evaluations. With ongoing engagements in significant projects, this is an opportune moment to become part of our growing Transport Advisory team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advisory services leveraging technical expertise in operations across various transport modalities, including light rail, metro, passenger or freight rail, and Bus Rapid Transit.
- Develop operational concepts and associated requirements.
- Conduct rail operational and infrastructure planning.
- Analyze rail corridor and network capacity.
- Evaluate network performance, infrastructure, and rolling stock alternatives.
- Plan services and develop timetables.
- Oversee fleet planning and crew scheduling.
- Ensure operational readiness and manage testing and commissioning.
- Utilize rail network simulation techniques.
- Apply operational knowledge throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to project delivery from strategic planning through to operational readiness.
- Lead project teams and represent AtkinsRéalis to key clients and stakeholders.
- Manage teams of subject matter experts, both locally and globally.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in engineering, transport planning, or a related field.
- Strong technical, project management, and communication skills to lead strategic and technical advisory projects.
- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and government representatives.
- Skilled in conveying complex concepts to non-specialists, with strong writing and presentation abilities.
- Experience in managing and developing teams of technical experts, including remote/global team collaboration.
- Ability to foster business growth in this sector through established client relationships.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with rail operations simulation tools such as RailSys (TM) and/or OpenTrack (TM) is advantageous.
