Overview

At Star Group, we're seeking a highly organized and motivated Office Administrator to join our Canberra team. As a key player in our ACT Branch, you'll provide top-notch administrative support, manage receptionist activities, and ensure smooth office operations.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook – with experience in scheduling and coordinating trades to achieve targets. A strong focus on customer service skills, both written and verbal, is essential, along with excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the team, including managing document control and project administration activities
  • Schedule and allocate work to tradespeople, ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Maintain and update relevant databases for the team, guaranteeing accuracy and efficiency
  • Coordinate all invoicing for projects, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Support and assist with quotations and tenders, collaborating closely with clients and subcontractors
  • Ensure the office remains presentable and operational functionalities are maintained, including inventory and disposal
  • Other administrative requirements as necessary
  • Assist with safety compliance and administrative activities for the project, adhering to industry standards

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Administrative experience in the electrical or construction industry (desirable)
  • A completed White Card (nice to have)
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience in scheduling and coordinating trades to achieve targets
  • Strong accounts and invoicing experience
  • Flexible and adaptable to support the project team
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills over the phone
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
  • A proactive and motivated attitude, with a willingness to develop and learn new skills
  • An organized person able to multi-task and meet deadlines and client priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously and maintain a busy office environment

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of approximately $60,000 - $70,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus superannuation.
