The Defence Force Advocate role involves serving as a part-time statutory office holder, appointed by the Minister for Defence to provide expert advice to the Chief of the Defence Force on matters related to Australian Defence Force remuneration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Familiarise yourself with various ADF personnel roles through scheduled visits in conjunction with members of the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal
  • Engage in interstate travel and participate in Defence-related activities, including travel in Defence vehicles, aircraft, and ships
  • Observe Defence personnel working in the field and at sea

This appointment is for three years, with eligibility for re-appointment. The annual commitment is approximately 70 days per year, depending on the number of cases listed by the Tribunal.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of Defence Force policies and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and make decisions that are in the best interests of Defence personnel.
