
Traffic Systems Specialist

The Traffic Systems Specialist undertakes traffic and transportation planning, design, consultation, and construction services to support local government objectives. The role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to traffic and transportation within a designated area.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the facilitation of the Local Traffic Committee, including agenda preparation, investigation, and recommendation, as well as liaison with committee members and attendance at meetings. Ensure accurate minute-taking and report preparation in compliance with legislation and best practices.
- Manage traffic and transportation projects from planning to construction, focusing on project delivery, financial reporting, and legislative adherence.
- Prepare and submit funding applications for traffic and transportation projects, identifying potential opportunities for additional funding.
- Evaluate permit applications for heavy vehicle travel within the designated area under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), assessing risk to public safety, road infrastructure damage, and community amenity impact, and provide recommendations within required timeframes.
- Review and provide comments or conditions on Development Applications related to traffic and transportation, as well as Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes submitted by external parties.
- Demonstrated expertise in traffic and transportation planning, design, and management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong project management and leadership abilities.
- Awareness of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
