Nursery Hand Job Description

The role of Nursery Hand is to undertake various tasks involved in the production process at our Ningi nursery.

This position is a permanent 38 hours per week, with some flexibility regarding work hours negotiable.

Tasks occur outdoors within purpose-built greenhouses and shade houses. Previous experience working in a nursery or horticultural enterprise is preferred but not essential.

You will be trained and work with an experienced team of people across all facets of the production process including transplanting, stock maintenance, movement of stock throughout the nursery, pest management, and picking & packing of orders.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  1. Transplanting plants into larger pots or directly into the ground
  2. Maintenance of stock, including pruning, watering and fertilizing
  3. Movement of stock throughout the nursery
  4. Pest management, including identifying and controlling pests
  5. Picking and packing of orders for dispatch to customers

  • Able to work outdoors in all weather
  • Physically fit as the tasks are physically demanding
