About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Intervention Practitioner to join our team at St Vincent de Paul. As a key member of our Child Protection Services, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable families and children in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive in-home support services to families and children, including assessment, counseling, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Work closely with Child Safety Services to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support families in achieving their goals and exiting the child protection system.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting families.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor progress and make adjustments to support plans as needed.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral Science.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in similar programs.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs.
  • Experience working with at-risk children, young people, and families who are subject to child protection statutory interventions.
  • Effective knowledge of Intensive Family Preservation and Intensive Family Reunification models of practice.
  • Ability to work within boundaries and well-developed task management skills.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of motivation, initiative, and creativity.
  • Contribute positively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society.
  • Understanding of risk management principles including current WHS legislation and regulations.
