We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at George Forbes House in Queanbeyan. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging social, recreational, and cultural activities that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents.

With a focus on person-centered care, you will work closely with residents, their families, and our care team to understand their needs, preferences, and goals. You will develop and implement activity programs that cater to diverse interests and abilities, ensuring that every resident feels valued, respected, and included.

This is a fixed-term part-time position, working 60 hours per fortnight. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team that is passionate about delivering high-quality care and services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging social, recreational, and cultural activities that promote resident well-being
  • Work closely with residents, families, and care team to understand their needs and preferences
  • Develop and implement activity programs that cater to diverse interests and abilities
  • Ensure resident safety and well-being at all times
  • Collaborate with the care team to achieve resident-centered care goals
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle (or willing to complete)
  • Experience working with people with dementia (highly desirable)
  • Current NSW/ACT Driver's License
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Previous experience in caring for the elderly in an aged or community care setting
  • Highly developed organization and time management skills
  • Understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards, and Outcomes
