About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at Baptist Care NSW & ACT. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our elderly residents by planning and delivering engaging social, recreational, and cultural activities.

Your primary responsibility will be to drive resident engagement and participation in a range of programs, including mental health and wellbeing initiatives. You will work closely with residents to understand their needs, values, spiritual, and cultural preferences, ensuring that our activities are tailored to meet their unique requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreational activity programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure individualized care and support
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify resident needs and preferences
  • Plan and coordinate outings, events, and activities that promote socialization and community engagement
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle (or willingness to complete)
  • Experience working with people with dementia (highly desirable)
  • A current NSW/ACT Driver's License
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Previous experience in caring for the elderly within an aged or community care setting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards, and Outcomes
