CAD/CAM Expert for Innovative Foundry Solutions

Weir Minerals, a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and supply of equipment for the mining and minerals processing industries, is seeking a highly skilled CAD Modeller and CNC Programmer to join our team at Artarmon.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilise your expertise in creating innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing 3D CAD models and G-code programs for CNC machining, ensuring compliance with released drawings from Engineering.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and generating 3D CAD models of patterns and coreboxes, tailored to meet the specific needs of our foundry metal casting environment.
  • Creating 3D slice models for transfer to 3D printers, driving innovation in our production processes.
  • Developing G-code programs for CNC router machining, employing advanced procedural techniques and detailed machining methods.
  • Designing and publishing timber preform templates, optimising efficiency in our manufacturing operations.
  • Maintaining accurate records of pattern dimensions and revisions within Teamcenter, ensuring seamless collaboration across departments.
  • Creating 2D CAD drawings for foundry-specific jigs and fixtures, enhancing our overall production capabilities.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in CAD and CNC programming modelling, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Patternmaking, Machining, or CNC Programming, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical design principles, with the ability to apply this understanding to drive innovation in our foundry solutions.
  • Experience working with timber construction methods, with a keen eye for detail and precision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and find effective solutions.

We offer a competitive salary of $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, reflecting your exceptional skills and experience in CAD and CNC programming. You will also benefit from:
