Accountant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team at Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. in Sydney. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for accurate and timely financial and management reporting, including month end reporting, treasury reporting, and intercompany reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform analytical reviews to ensure reporting accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and post necessary journal entries, including provisions, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Regularly review and investigate material status to ensure smooth annual costing runs.
  • Own and maintain the accuracy of the Fixed Asset Register, including regular stocktakes and disposal as required.
Accounts Payable:
  • Supervise and coach the Accounting Officer on Accounts Payable processes to ensure accurate processing of invoices and employee expenses.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices and employee expenses with no interruption to the business.
Compliance:
  • Prepare and submit monthly GST Returns and annual FBT returns.
  • Assist the business and Finance Department in meeting compliance requirements, including tax returns, statutory reporting, and audit and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare assigned analysis reports for business managers.
  • Assist in month end processes, including preparation of variance analysis and issue investigation.
Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge of accounting practices and standards.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong team focus.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting major.
  • > 3 years' experience in a similar role with SAP knowledge on reporting and accounts payable.
  • Competent user of SAP ERP system.
  • Competent user of MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and other tools.
