Signals Intelligence Analyst Role Overview

The Signals Intelligence Analyst role involves performing complex research, analysis and operational tasks to support the collection, production and dissemination of signals intelligence.

Successful candidates will receive specialised on-the-job training and access to relevant industry-related courses to develop their skills and build professional networks across the National Intelligence Community.

  • Investigate, research and analyse information and collect data to assist in the production of signals intelligence, tailored to stakeholder requirements.
  • Conduct research and analysis of signals intelligence data including using data literacy techniques to collate, manipulate and transform data.
  • Evaluate collected data and information to guide capability development and analytical tradecraft to support mission outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building effective working relationships with team members and actively participating in collaborative activities.
  • Using various information and communications technology, record keeping and information management systems and analytical tools to conduct signals analysis.
  • Interpreting legislative, policy and security frameworks.
  • Developing expertise on geopolitical issues and regional cultures.
Seniority Levels

There are three seniority levels for this role: ASD4, ASD5 and ASD6. Each level requires different skills and experience:

  • ASD4: Curious individuals who have a passion for researching geopolitical issues, regional countries and cultures.
  • ASD5: Curious and enthusiastic analysts who do not shy away from challenging problems.
  • ASD6: Skilled, experienced and creative analysts who thrive in fast-paced environments to solve intelligence and analytical problems.

The Regional Intelligence Branch is responsible for delivering foreign intelligence to the Australian Government on key issues affecting the Indo-Pacific region.
