Technical Specialist Position

This role involves providing technical support and guidance for teaching, research, and engagement programs. The position is crucial in ensuring that safe practices are followed in studio, workshop, and teaching areas.

The Technical Officer (Digital Technologies) will provide technical support for class activities and student project work associated with specialized computing technologies, including extended reality (VR, AR & MR), 3D scanning, modeling, programming, and electronics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical instruction and support for teaching, research, and engagement programs.
  • Ensuring safe practices are followed in studio, workshop, and teaching areas.
  • Providing technical support for class activities and student project work associated with specialized computing technologies.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting digital platforms for documentation and digital archiving.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in extended reality (VR, AR & MR) technologies.
  • Experience with game design software and programming.
  • Knowledge of 3D scanning and organic modeling technologies and software.
  • Experience managing and maintaining digital platforms for documentation and digital archiving.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with 3D modeling for digital fabrication and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of design and publication software.
  • Understanding of virtual production processes.
