Safety Leadership Professional

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Officer to lead our departments safety initiatives and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety and risk management across all departmental operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Housing Portfolio's WH&S management system and provide advice and assistance to ensure effective WHS risk management.
- Develop and maintain an exemplary safety culture within the business unit through WHS workshops and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor legislation and regulations and recommend improvements to our delivery processes, WHS risk register, and management system to ensure compliance with objectives, relevant legislation, and injury management needs.
- Conduct and/or facilitate regular audits of construction activities and document corrective measures for WHS processes, recommending improvement strategies.
- Support delivery teams in reporting WHS incidents, hazards, and near misses, and provide assistance in closing out corrective actions or improvement notices.
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes in relation to WH&S and ensure that WH&S risk-based activities are appropriately considered and managed.
- Provide guidance and specialist advice on WHS matters to ensure consistent application of our WHS policies, procedures, and guidelines, and adherence to WHS legislation and Contracted obligation and specification requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS or equivalent extensive WHS experience.
- Current Construction industry white card induction.
- Current NSW class C driver's license.
- Cert IV in Training and Education.
Desirable Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Construction WHS, with an understanding of BCA standards, current WHS legislation, and NSW Government construction procurement policy requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of ISO Quality, Safety, and Environmental management system requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of GC21 & MW21 Contracts and NSW Procurement Policy Framework requirements in Construction projects.
- Proficient with MS Suite computer software.
