About The Role
At Ventia, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to join our Defence and ICT team within our Telecommunications division. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver commercially successful outcomes for scope, time, budget, and quality for a specific area as defined by the contract while meeting project requirements, minimising risk, and ensuring compliance with the CRC.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up early works, delivery, and completion systems and processes, coordinating teams, monitoring and reporting on productivity, driving performance, and implementing strategies to improve programme and margin in accordance with Company policies and the Project Management Plan (PMP).
Key Accountabilities
Some of the key accountabilities of this role include:
- Collaborating with Commercial Managers and Engineering teams to develop construction plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
- Advising commercial and procurement teams on construction or resourcing methodologies that can reduce cost or time.
- Ensuring the construction team has effective construction programming tools and methodologies implemented accordingly.
- Reviewing the program of works, assisting with the development of resourcing plans, and ensuring resources are used efficiently and productivity is maximised.
- Ensuring HSE plans are effectively implemented and monitored, and that all Ventia employees and subcontractors comply accordingly.
- Ensuring Quality plans are implemented, and the process surrounding subcontractor engagement is clearly understood by the construction team.
- Reviewing and approving subcontractor allocation processes.
- Participating in PMP reviews and implementing or requesting improvement actions.
- Advising the Procurement team on sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing plant and equipment.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with relevant qualifications and experience working as a Construction Manager within the Telecommunications/Construction industry. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven experience in construction scheduling/planning with proficiency in PM tools and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyse performance metrics and mitigate schedule risks.
- Understanding of their role in creating shareholder value, business fundamentals (e.g. P&L, cost and revenue drivers, risk, legal, contracts).
- Management of budgets and control of costs effectively.
- Ability to interpret and implement architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Project Management Diploma (advantageous).
