We are seeking a dynamic News Editor to join our Canberra-based team at the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Australian Parliament House.

Main Responsibilities
  • Curate and publish timely public-source news materials, ensuring comprehensive coverage for our clients. Key areas of focus include:
  • Delivering real-time, accurate news updates that meet the needs of our subscribers, who rely on us for timely information.
  • Crafting concise, topical, and engaging editorials that keep pace with the week's developments in Parliament.
  • Collaborating across teams to ensure top-notch content quality and comprehensive coverage, meeting the expectations of our stakeholders.
  • Assisting subscribers with research queries and content needs, providing expert support and guidance.
Requirements
  • Attention to detail: A sharp eye for top-tier quality copy is essential, as we strive to deliver exceptional results.
  • Deadline mastery: Expertise in working to tight deadlines, navigating fast-paced environments, and juggling competing priorities is crucial for success.
  • Time management and punctuality: Efficient time management and unwavering punctuality are vital in meeting deadlines and delivering results.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Insight into Australian Parliamentary or Government processes can be beneficial, but not necessary.
  • Robust research and analytical abilities, particularly knowledge of Government/Parliamentary sources, are valuable assets.
  • Experience working with style guides, database, and content management systems is highly desirable.
  • Passion for emerging technology and process innovation can help drive progress and improvement.

This role requires regular attendance at our Canberra office in Parliament House.
