Groundsperson Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Groundsperson to join our team at one of our racecourses in Sydney. As a Groundsperson, you will be responsible for maintaining the course proper, training tracks, and grounds to ensure they are always presented in the best possible condition.

This is an excellent opportunity to work outdoors and utilize your maintenance skills to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the upkeep and care of our racetracks, ensuring they meet the highest standards.
  • Undertake general maintenance work, including laboring, cleaning, track maintenance, gardening, and other tasks as instructed.
  • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front-end loaders, forklifts, power sweepers, harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers, and spray machinery.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial, and other surfaces to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management or related fields.
  • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Appropriate licenses to operate specialist machinery, such as manual vehicles, front-end loaders, and forklifts.
  • Experience operating plant and equipment, including Bobcats, Graders, and Excavators.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience handling and spraying chemicals.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy working outdoors and have a can-do attitude.
