Groundsperson Role

Maintaining a well-manicured course is key to the success of any racing event. In this permanent full-time position, you will be responsible for ensuring the course proper, training tracks, and grounds at Royal Randwick Racecourse are always presented in the best possible condition.

This role plays a vital part in creating a memorable experience for all attendees and supporting the overall success of our carnival race days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake routine maintenance tasks including labouring, cleaning, track maintenance and garden upkeep
  • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loaders, power sweepers, harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and spray operations
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfaces
  • Work outside of race days: 8:30 – 5:00pm
The Right Candidate
  • Proven experience in a similar groundsperson or turf management role
  • General mechanical and operational skills
  • Relevant licences to operate specialist machinery
  • Practical experience operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator
  • Sound knowledge and experience of handling and spraying chemicals
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Enjoy working outdoors
