We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Tenancy Plus Support Worker to provide direct service delivery to at-risk social housing tenants to prevent tenants becoming homeless and to maintain social housing tenancies for those who reside in Brimbank, Melton, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham Local Government Areas.

This is a permanent part-time position, 22.8 hours per week, based in Sunshine, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist tenants in developing increased self-efficacy and personal action through being able to seek supports and assistance when they are required.
  • Provide tenants with a rapid response to address the families immediate housing needs.
  • Assist tenants in being in secure, sustainable, stable long-term accommodation (i.e longer than six months).
  • Support needs are addressed, or appropriate ongoing support referrals are established.
  • Alleviate the risk of tenancy failure.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related community service field.
  • Knowledge of homelessness including context, issues and legislation.
  • Ability to apply homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients.
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
  • Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.
  • A current and valid Working with Children's Check.
  • A current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
