About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tenancy Plus Support Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our support services team, you will play a vital role in providing direct service delivery to at-risk social housing tenants to prevent homelessness and maintain social housing tenancies.

This is a permanent part-time position, 22.8 hours per week, based in Sunshine, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist tenants in developing increased awareness of available services and supports to maintain suitable accommodation
  • Support tenants in developing self-efficacy and personal action through seeking assistance when needed
  • Provide rapid response to address tenants' immediate housing needs
  • Assist tenants in securing sustainable, stable long-term accommodation (i.e. longer than six months)
  • Ensure support needs are addressed, or ongoing support referrals are established
  • Minimize the risk of tenancy failure
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related community service field
  • Knowledge of homelessness, including context, issues, and legislation
  • Ability to apply homelessness models, approaches, theories, and practices when dealing with clients
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities
  • A current and valid Working with Children's Check
  • A current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence
