Okami Japanese Restaurant Albury is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to lead our kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery of dishes.
- Collaborate on menu creation, incorporating seasonal ingredients and balancing budget constraints.
- Supervise the preparation and cooking process, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served.
- Liaise with management, dietitians, and staff to address food preparation and dietary considerations.
- Implement and maintain rigorous hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Order and manage kitchen inventory, coordinating with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment.
- Monitor storage conditions, including temperature control, and manage the preservation of ingredients.
- Contribute to cost management by estimating food and labor expenses and optimizing kitchen operations.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by adapting to special requests and dietary requirements.
- Participate in the design and development of menus, using seasonal produce and staying current with culinary trends.
Requirements:
- Must hold a Certificate IV or higher qualification in Cookery, with formal training in the Australian culinary industry.
- Solid understanding of Japanese food, with experience in preparing and serving Omakase.
- Prior experience in a restaurant environment is essential; experience in a Japanese food setting is preferred.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality dishes with consistency and attention to detail.
- Creative and passionate about culinary arts, with a strong desire for continuous learning and skill development.
- Reliable, hardworking, and takes pride in food preparation and presentation.
- Willingness to share skills and knowledge with team members, contributing to a positive work environment.
- Fluent in English, with strong communication skills for effective teamwork.
- Proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable, enhancing customer interaction.
- Must hold a valid full-time working visa.
