As an Explosive Ordnance Engineering Consultant, you will provide technical solutions and advice to clients in a project setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from Defence Organisations (DOS), Defence Science and Technology (DST) and Guided Weapons Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) manufacturing.
  • Support department collaboration through workshops or similar within Australia.
  • Review and develop engineering documentation.
  • Provide training via short engineering presentations on subject areas of value.
  • Answer direct technical questions from engineers regarding energetic materials, all-up systems, common failure modes and de-risking/testing options.
  • Diffuse technical material to engineers within GWEO systems.
  • Provide mentoring and task planning for junior/graduate engineers.
  • Prepare material for broad audiences through conference papers or equivalent publications.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree in a suitable field with at least 2 years relevant experience, or a technical/trade background with 8+ years of demonstrable Defence experience.

They will also have elevated professional knowledge of guided weapon systems and/or Explosive Ordnance.

Experience in engineering artefact development and review activities is highly valued.

A high knowledge of applicable weapon systems, equipment, or technology is also required.

ASDEFCON principles should be familiar to the ideal candidate.

Supporting defence acquisition or sustainment projects is essential for this role.

Knowledge of guided weapons/munitions and defence technical regulatory frameworks is necessary.

Explosive ordnance, materiel management, technical management are key areas of focus.

Certification/integration activities, and EO/weapons-related Land, Sea, and Air operations experience is desirable.

Defence acquisition or sustainment projects can benefit from the ideal candidate's skills.

Guided weapons/munitions expertise is valuable in this role.

Understanding defence technical regulatory frameworks is crucial.

Explosive ordnance, materiel management, technical management skills are essential.

This role requires certification/integration activities and EO/weapons-related Land, Sea, and Air operations experience.
