Livestock Production Manager

Key Responsibilities Include Strategic Planning Farm Operations Effective Resource Use Timely Task Completion High Productivity Standards

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Use basic computer skills to operate farm management tools (e.g. AgriWebb, MEX-App) and support daily operations.
  • Interpret nutritionist feed sheets and apply to TMR (Total Mixed Ration) calculations.
  • Operate and maintain modern machinery (mixer wagons, side by sides, front-end loader tractors, JCB loaders).
  • Oversee beef cattle breeding programs.
  • Feed livestock and monitor animal health and welfare.
  • Develop and implement beef cattle feeding plans and identify beef cattle health and nutrition problems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of sheep management (excluding breeding), with responsibility for weekly coordination of sheep/lamb movements.
  • Practice and promote low-stress stock handling techniques.
  • Oversee the repair and upkeep of fencing and water systems.
  • Establish and maintain pastures and fodder crops for beef cattle production and identify plant health and nutrition problems.
  • Maintain and improve farm infrastructure.
  • Contribute to budgeting and financial planning.
  • Implement biosecurity management measures.
  • Manage pasture health and rotational grazing practices.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace safety and animal welfare standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience working with beef cattle and sheep across various production stages.
  • Experience in cell grazing preferred.
  • Competency in operating and maintaining modern farm machinery.
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare and low-stress stock handling.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Prior experience in infrastructure maintenance and pasture management.
  • Current driver's license (machinery tickets or certifications a bonus).

As an experienced professional in agricultural management, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our farm operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, high productivity standards, and timely task completion.
