Leadership Role in Defence Support

This position is for an experienced professional who can lead a team to deliver critical support services in the defence sector. The role involves taking full responsibility for delivering maintenance, engineering, supply, planning, and operational support services to Navy platforms.

The successful candidate will maintain an efficient and effective support system, operating within CASG principles, to ensure ship availability targets are met or exceeded. With a focus on excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, you will be pivotal in stakeholder engagement and management for customers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, engineering, logistics, warehousing, planning, scheduling, and operations management
  • Subcontractor and supplier management
  • Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and regional development initiatives
  • Technical data and Defence-supplied equipment (GFE, GFM, GFS, GFD)
  • Uniformed personnel management
  • Maintenance Management System and regulatory compliance
  • Service delivery reporting, administration, and coordination

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering support services within a complex stakeholder environment
  • Experience managing support services within an Australian Defence context
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation
  • Sharp attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build, lead and support high-performing teams
  • Deep knowledge of engineering, maintenance, and supply support systems
  • Understanding of Defence Engineering statutory compliance requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High-level analytical, reporting and presentation capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities
  • Capable of working independently with sound organisational and time management skills
  • Effective planning, delegation, and team motivation skills
  • A commitment to lead by example in safety, quality, and ethical standards
