Senior Commercial Business Director

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded leader to shape the future of our Shire through management and operation of key commercial assets and services. This role is part of our Senior Leadership Team and contributes openly and constructively as a member of Council's leadership team.

Your New RoleThis Commercial Business Department delivers efficient, effective and coherent commercial business services for customers and the community in a financially sustainable manner. It comprises four main functions: Commercial Assets, Economic Development & Tourism, Property Services and Facilities & Operations.
This role leads the Department to achieve its goals, including overseeing Macleay Valley Coast Holiday Parks, Kempsey Airport and Kempsey Regional Saleyards. The incumbent will also contribute to the development of strategic and statutory property management, as well as managing Council's owned facilities and cemeteries.
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Department to deliver commercial business services that contribute to the Shire's success and prosperity. The incumbent is expected to have strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
About YouYou are a senior leader with a strong background in managing complex operations, ideally within a government or public sector context. You have a proven ability to balance commercial success with community benefit and stakeholder engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Tertiary qualification in Business or a related field
- Significant experience in a senior leadership role overseeing commercial operations, property and/or business services
- Strong strategic and financial acumen with a track record of delivering sustainable business outcomes
- Knowledge of governance, compliance and risk management frameworks within a government setting
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
