This position represents the staff/journey level for nursing roles assigned to a specific clinical service area or rotating among various nursing departments within the institution or hospital.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing nursing care plans for patients with diverse nursing care needs; delivering nursing care and treatment services to patients assigned to the unit, and overseeing the work of nursing assistants.
Due to their experience and ability to assess patients' conditions and provide comprehensive nursing diagnoses, incumbents may also act as charge nurses, relieving the head nurse during evening or night shifts.
This entails the responsibility for delivering patient care and treatment services as per physician's orders; executing nursing care plans approved by the unit nursing supervisor; and responding to patient emergencies.

The State of Hawaii mandates that all individuals seeking employment with the government must be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Hawaii Registered Nurse License: Applicants MUST POSSESS a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the
State of Hawaii
at the time of application.
Experience: Six (6) months of professional nursing work experience as a registered nurse.
CPR Certification: Incumbents must be prepared at all times to immediately provide emergency medical services when needed, including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Therefore, you must possess a current CPR certification
at the time of application. MUST attach a copy of your current CPR certificate to your application.
Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
Requirement: As mandated by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), federal law prohibits hiring or promoting anyone who may have contact with inmates and who:
1) Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
2) Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
3) Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
4) Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
