About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team in Park Ridge or Wacol, QLD. As a key member of our support workforce, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to individuals with mental illness who live in supported accommodation.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide client-focused, community-oriented, and sensitive support to individuals with mental illness, promoting their independence and well-being. You will work collaboratively with clients, families, carers, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement individualised plans that cater to their unique needs and goals.

We are committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people, and all applicants must undergo required screening processes prior to their successful appointment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support and services to individuals with mental illness in supported accommodation
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, families, carers, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised plans
  • Mentor clients in building productive relationships and using effective conflict resolution strategies
  • Assist clients in maintaining key organisational and other relationships, facilitating independent living
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of Cert IV in mental health or community services related discipline (ideally a completed diploma or Bachelor's degree)
  • Demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills
  • Experience in working with individuals experiencing mental illness
  • Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed people
  • Understanding of the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy, and confidentiality
  • Competence with Microsoft Office
  • Current driver's license
  • Eligibility to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance and hold a Blue Card

Estimated salary: AU$70,000 - AU$90,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
