Payroll Manager Job Description

This job plays a crucial role in the smooth functioning of our organization's payroll operations. The Payroll Manager will oversee and manage all payroll-related activities, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll accurately and on time, including calculating salaries, deductions, and taxes
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations related to payroll, taxation, and employment
  • Manage and maintain payroll records, including employee details, salary information, and tax documentation
  • Liaise with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination in the payroll process
  • Manage payroll-related queries and requests from employees and external stakeholders, and resolve any issues that arise in a timely and efficient manner
  • Implement and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and streamline processes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulations related to payroll, and ensure that the company remains compliant
  • Manage and lead a team of payroll staff, ensuring that they have the necessary training and support to perform their duties effectively

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in payroll, with at least 3 years as a team leader/manager
  • Relevant qualification in Finance and bookkeeping
  • Experience working in a large organization of 2500+ timesheet employees
  • Experience within the blue-collar, labour hire or transport industry sector
  • Proven ability to manage the payroll function in multi-site operations
  • Ability to be a hands-on leader who motivates the team
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer service focus
