Senior Communications Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join our North Coast Region Team.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising communication services for our significant projects program in the North Coast Region.
You will lead a team responsible for executive correspondence, issues management, stakeholder relationship management, public affairs, media relations, and community engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing, and coordinating the region's executive correspondence, community relations, and community engagement programs.
- Supervising and coordinating the work of communications officers across the region, including review and approval of communication material.
- Providing tactical and operational advice to regional staff on communications issues and strategies, including the development, implementation, and resolution of strategies and communication activities.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation, coordination, and enhanced communication channels.
- Ensuring appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Providing training, advice, and support to regional staff, consultants, and contractors to enhance communication skills for delivering projects and initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
- While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing would be highly desirable.
- Accreditation from the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in Engagement, or the willingness to obtain one.
- Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects.
- Preferably Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional qualification (however, this is not mandatory).
- Experience in a communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will be highly regarded.
This position reports to the Principal Communications Advisor and will have three direct reports.
