Job Overview

The Contracts Manager role involves leading all aspects of contract management and reporting for a portfolio of contracts implemented through various field offices. This position is responsible for project managing significant multi-country DFAT contracts and portfolios of grants in geographic sectors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establishing engagement platforms with donors, partner agencies, and other supporters to foster relationships and achieve quality grant implementation.
  • Maintaining regular monitoring of field programmatic and financial reporting, ensuring accountability for addressing issues and building capacity as required.
  • Collaborating with key internal stakeholders, including Contract Managers and Portfolio Advisors, for effective grant management and coordinated engagement with National Offices.
  • Contributing to the coordination of ANCP portfolio management.
  • Ensuring timely and quality submission of internal and external reporting, meeting and exceeding supporter expectations and WVA standards.
  • Promoting professional representation and leadership within the network of partners.
  • Developing and refining grant management processes, tools, and resources, including those for the ANCP portfolio.
  • Delivering growth within the portfolio by working with the Grant Acquisition team to identify and capitalize on opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to engage stakeholders, and lead through influence and collaboration.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Program and project management skills, including understanding of contracting and risk management.
  • Significant complex contract management experience, ideally with a portfolio of grants.
  • Program management experience, including results development and communication.
  • Account management or commercial experience in identifying opportunities.
  • Knowledge of procurement or grants structures and processes, particularly in the Australian Government and international organizations.
  • Understanding of partnering models between NGOs and government/international organizations.
  • Able to work in fragile, contested, or restrictive environments.
  • Cultural diversity and sensitivity in interactions with field staff and communities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Business, Marketing, International Relations, or technical fields.
